Ingredients:
Momordica Cymbalaria - 1/4 kg
Salt - as required
Chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Coconut oil - 4 tablespoons
Chana Dal (split Bengal gram) - 1/2 teaspoon
Urad Dal (split Black gram) - 1/2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Dry red chilli - 1
Method:
Chop of both ends of all the Momordica Cymbalaria. Then rinse them thoroughly and drain the water completely. Heat oil in a kadai / pan and add chana dal and urad dal. Saute until they turn golden brown. Then add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they start to splutter, add curry leaves and dry red chili. Saute for a minute and add Momordica cymbalaria. Fry until they become soft. Then add salt, chili powder, and turmeric powder. Mix and turn off the stove. Serve with rice or as a side dish.
Note:
Momordica Cymbalaria is called Karchikai in Kannada, Athalakkai in Tamil and Kasarakayi in Telugu.
