Ingredients:
Whole wheat rava (rava of ‘Jave godi’ variety wheat is the best for Uppitt) – 2 cups
Water – 4 cups
Onion (chopped) – 2
Green chilli (slit) – 4
Tomato (chopped) – 2
Carrot (chopped) – 1
Beans (chopped) – 4
Salt – as required
Lemon – 1 (optional)
Grated coconut – ½ cup (optional)
Seasoning:
Oil – 4 tablespoons
Peanut – 1 tablespoon
Cashew (chopped) – 1 tablespoon
Chana dal (split Bengal gram) – 1 teaspoon
Urad dal (Split Black gram) – 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon
Curry leaf – 1 sprig
Method:
Take a heavy-bottomed pot and put 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the whole wheat rava and fry until a nice aroma arises. Then remove the rava from the pot and keep it aside. Now add the remaining oil into the pot and add chana dal and urad dal. Fry till the color changes. Then add peanuts, cashews, and mustard seeds. Fry until golden brown. Now add curry leaves. Add green chilli, and onion and fry until golden brown. Now add chopped carrot, beans, and tomato. Close with the lid and cook for 5 minutes. Now add salt and water. Once the water starts to boil add roasted whole wheat rava and mix. Close the lid and cook until all the water has evaporated. Sprinkle some lemon juice and grated coconut.
Serve hot as it is or along with coconut chutney/peanut chutney pudi / lemon pickle.
