Kudumulu / Undrallu are offered as Naivedyam for Lord Ganesha on Ganesha Chaturthi Festival.
Ingredients:
Brown rice rava - 2 cups
Moong dal (split green gram) - 1/4 cup
Shredded fresh coconut - 1 cup
Water - 4 cups
Salt - as required
Method:
Soak moong dal in water for 1 hour. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel. Pour water and add salt. Once the water starts boiling, add brown rice rava and soaked moong dal. Cover the vessel with the lid and cook until the rava becomes soft. Transfer the cooked rava mixture into a broad plate and let it cool. Add shredded fresh coconut and mix well. Apply little water to your palms and form the rava mixture into big lemon sized balls. Transfer the prepared Kudumulu into a steamer and steam for 15 minutes. Serve hot or warm along with coconut chutney or Andhra Avakaya Pachadi.
Note:
While cooking the rava mixture, it sticks to the bottom of the vessel, which is normal. After transferring the cooked rava mixture into a broad plate, scrape out the roasted rava mixture which has sticked to the bottom. It will be good to eat.
